What is Litecoin?
Litecoin (LTC) was created in 2011 as a faster, lighter version of Bitcoin. A block is produced about every 2.5 minutes, and it is used for small everyday payments.
The maximum supply is 84 million coins, and like Bitcoin, the miners’ reward is roughly halved about every four years (a halving).
What moves the Litecoin price?
The Litecoin price is formed by buying and selling in the market, and a few broad factors influence it. These are not predictions; they only explain why the number on the card changes:
- Supply and demand in the crypto market.
- The moves of Bitcoin and the wider market; Litecoin usually follows the market’s mood.
- Halvings and technical news about the network.
- Liquidity and trading volume.
How is the Litecoin price on this page calculated?
The card above shows the Litecoin (LTC) price in US dollars, with the 24-hour change and the time of the last update. Switch the currency in the card to see it in euros, UAE dirhams or Turkish lira: the value is the US dollar price multiplied by the market rate of that currency per US dollar. If your currency moves against the dollar, the local price of Litecoin moves even when its dollar price stands still.
The 24-hour change compares the current price with the price at this same moment yesterday. It describes the recent past and says nothing about tomorrow.
The price on this page is for display and reference only, not a trade price. When you pay or convert in Waletifi, the exact amount comes from a signed quote with an expiry that you see before you confirm. If the price hasn’t updated for a few minutes, you see a warning next to it.
Hold, receive and send Litecoin in Waletifi
Waletifi supports Litecoin next to Bitcoin and Dogecoin, all under one 24-word recovery phrase. Each coin has its own address and network fee, shown before you send.
To get Litecoin, you can deposit it from an exchange or another wallet to your own address and, where conversion is available for it, convert from another asset; the minimum you receive and every fee are shown before you confirm. Availability depends on the pair and your country.
Keys are created and kept only on your phone, and we can’t touch your funds. Write your 24-word recovery phrase on paper and keep it somewhere safe.
Know the risks
Crypto prices can move a lot in a single day, and Litecoin is no exception. This page is not advice to buy or sell and promises no returns; only put in money you can afford to see go down.
