Why is USDT worth about 1 US dollar?
USDT is a stablecoin: a token designed to keep a value of 1 US dollar, backed by reserves held by its issuer. That backing is what keeps its market price near the peg.
Near is not the same as exactly. On the open market USDT often trades a tiny bit above or below 1 USD, because the price comes from real buy and sell orders. Small deviations are normal; a large or lasting gap signals market stress or doubts about the issuer.
How is the USDT rate in other currencies formed?
The USDT value in another currency is the US dollar price of USDT multiplied by the market rate of that currency per US dollar. Switch the card to euros, dirhams or lira to see that local value.
This is why USDT is stable against the dollar but not against your local currency. When the lira or the euro moves against the dollar, the local value of USDT moves with it, even if USDT itself has not changed. The UAE dirham is pegged to the dollar, so its USDT rate barely moves.
Why does the USDT price differ between platforms?
Every exchange or app has its own market, so a small difference between platforms is normal. The most common reasons:
- The exchange rate each platform uses to convert the dollar price into a local currency.
- Last trade price versus the average of buy and sell offers.
- How often the price is refreshed and how deep the market is.
- Fees and withdrawal limits built into the price.
Is USDT on TRC20, TON, BEP20 and ERC20 the same price?
Yes. USDT on Tron (TRC20), TON, BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) and Ethereum (ERC20) is the same token, so the price on this page applies to every network. What differs is the transfer fee, which each network charges in its own coin, such as TRX or energy on Tron and TON on TON.
Before you buy, pick a network the person or exchange on the other side supports.
Reference price, not a trade price
The price here is for display and reference only. When you actually pay or convert in Waletifi, the amount comes from a signed quote with an expiry that is shown to you before you confirm. In P2P trades, each seller sets their own offer price.
How to buy and sell USDT safely
The safest way to buy USDT from someone you don’t know is when their USDT is locked before you pay. In Waletifi’s P2P section, the seller’s USDT is locked in an on-chain escrow when the trade opens, and their payment details are shown only once the escrow is funded. P2P needs identity verification and depends on your country.
Rules that help wherever you trade:
- Never send money or crypto first to a stranger you met in a chat or group.
- Pay only from a bank account in your own name.
- Before releasing USDT, check that the money has really arrived in your bank account.
Keep your USDT in your own wallet
USDT in a non-custodial wallet moves only with your private key and doesn’t depend on any exchange’s limits. In Waletifi, keys are created and kept only on your phone, and we can’t touch your USDT.
Write your 24-word recovery phrase on paper and keep it somewhere safe. If you lose your phone, they restore your USDT.
