How do you buy Bitcoin?
You buy Bitcoin outside Waletifi. The usual steps are:
See the Waletifi Bitcoin wallet
- Choose a reputable exchange that is legal and active in your country. Rules and payment methods differ by country.
- Open an account, complete verification if required, and buy the Bitcoin.
- In Waletifi tap Receive, choose Bitcoin and copy the address. A Native SegWit address starts with bc1q.
- At the exchange start a withdrawal, choose the Bitcoin network and paste the address. Send a small test first.
- Wait until it is confirmed and shows in History, then send the rest.
Why move Bitcoin to a personal wallet?
Bitcoin left at an exchange is controlled by the exchange’s keys. In a personal wallet the private key is created and stays on your phone, and Waletifi cannot access it. The price of that control is that safekeeping of the 24 words is your job.
The recovery phrase is a standard BIP39 phrase, so if Waletifi were ever unavailable you could restore your Bitcoin in another standard wallet.
Fees and transfer time
Moving Bitcoin costs two things: the exchange’s withdrawal fee and the Bitcoin network fee, which rises and falls with congestion. Some exchanges also set a minimum withdrawal.
Receiving in Waletifi costs nothing. When you send Bitcoin later, the network fee is shown before you confirm.
Risks: price, wrong address and scams
Know these before you buy:
- Bitcoin’s price can swing sharply, and no return is guaranteed.
- Bitcoin only travels on the Bitcoin network. Do not paste an address from another network.
- Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed, so check the first and last characters of the address.
- Anyone asking for your 24 words or a “verification fee” is a scammer.
Who is this page for?
If you plan to hold Bitcoin for a long time or want control of it, a personal wallet is a sensible home. If you just want to trade, you still need an exchange; Waletifi does not replace one.
