How to sell tokenized stocks and cash out
Buying a tokenized share is half the story; at some point you will want your money back. In Waletifi you sell the token back to USDT in the Stocks section, and from there you decide what to do with it. This guide covers the steps, the costs and the timing.
Selling in the Stocks section

- Open the Stocks section and choose the share you hold.
- Tap Sell and enter how many tokens, or how much USDT, you want.
- On the review screen, check the USDT you will receive, the conversion fee and the network fee in ETH.
- Confirm with your fingerprint or PIN. The transaction is signed on your phone and the USDT arrives in your own wallet.
When to sell: market hours
You can sell whenever the Stocks section is open to you, but the reference price follows the US market, open 9:30 to 16:00 New York time on weekdays.
At weekends and on US holidays the share has no live price, so the token price can differ from where the share will open. Selling during market hours usually gives a price closest to the share.
After the sale: three options
The USDT is in your own wallet. From there you can:
Sell USDT for local currency in P2P
- Keep it as USDT, a dollar-pegged stablecoin.
- Send it to another wallet or an exchange, choosing the right network.
- Sell it for local currency in P2P, where P2P is offered in your country.
Costs when selling
Selling has the same two costs as buying: the conversion fee and the Ethereum network fee in ETH. Keep a little ETH in your wallet so you can sell when you want; the app warns you if it is missing.
If you sell a large amount at once, limited liquidity on the network can move the price. The app shows the minimum you will receive before you confirm.
The price you actually receive
The review screen shows an expected amount of USDT and a minimum you will receive. The minimum protects you if the price moves between the quote and the moment the transaction is confirmed; if it would fall below that, the sale does not go through and you keep your tokens.
For large amounts, consider selling in a few parts instead of one order, so a single sale does not move the price on the network too much.
Things that can block a sale
- No ETH for the network fee.
- The Stocks section is not enabled for your country, or your app is out of date.
- The issuer has paused transfers or restricted an address; it may restrict addresses it associates with certain countries, including sanctioned countries such as Iran and Afghanistan.
Keeping a record
Every sale appears in your wallet history with the date, the tokens sold and the USDT received. Keep it with your purchase records: together they show your result and help with any tax or accounting question in your country.
