How much gold can you buy with 100 USDT?
Before buying digital gold it helps to know what your money turns into in grams. The calculation is simple once you know the global gold price per ounce. This guide shows the formula, a worked example in 24 and 18 karat, and how fees change the result.
The formula
Gold is priced worldwide per troy ounce, and one troy ounce is 31.1035 grams. So the price of one gram of pure 24-karat gold is the ounce price divided by 31.1035.
Grams you can buy = the USDT you spend ÷ the price per gram. Fees come off first, so the real number is a little lower.
Worked example
Suppose gold is 4,000 USDT per ounce. This is an example price, not today's price. One gram of 24-karat gold is then 4,000 ÷ 31.1035 ≈ 128.6 USDT.
For 18 karat, which is 75% gold, the same money corresponds to more grams of alloy: divide the 24-karat grams by 0.75.
| You spend | 24K gold | Equal to 18K |
|---|---|---|
| 10 USDT | 0.078 g | 0.104 g |
| 50 USDT | 0.389 g | 0.518 g |
| 100 USDT | 0.778 g | 1.037 g |
| 500 USDT | 3.888 g | 5.184 g |
Fees that reduce what you receive
Each purchase has a swap fee and an Ethereum network fee. The network fee is roughly fixed, so on 10 USDT it takes a much bigger share than on 500 USDT.
In Waletifi the quote shows the weight, the price per gram, the total fee and the minimum you will receive before you confirm, so you do not need to calculate it yourself.
From grams to your local currency
If you think in your local currency rather than in USDT, convert in two steps: the gold price in USDT, then the USDT rate in your currency. For example, at 128.6 USDT per gram and a USDT rate of 3.67 AED, one gram costs about 472 AED before fees.
Waletifi shows the gold balance in grams and in your local currency, using signed rates that refresh regularly, so you can see the value without calculating it yourself. If you start from local currency, buy USDT first, for example through P2P where it is offered in your country.
Why the result differs from your local market
- Digital gold follows the global price and has no making charge or jeweller's margin.
- Local markets often add a premium, so a gram in a shop can cost more or less than the global price.
- Coins and jewellery are physical; digital gold is a token backed by gold that the issuer holds.
Before you buy
Save in gold with a piggy bank goal
- Check the live price per gram on the gold screen; it moves all the time.
- Prefer fewer, larger purchases if the network fee is a large share.
- Remember the price can fall, and the issuer can freeze the token.
- Keep your recovery phrase safe: nobody can recover your gold without it.
