How to sell digital gold and cash out
Digital gold is easy to buy in small steps, and it is just as important to know how to turn it back into money. In Waletifi you sell gold to USDT from the Gold screen and decide what to do next. Here are the steps, the costs and what affects the price you get.
Selling from the Gold screen
- Open Gold from the Market tab or the home shortcut.
- Tap Sell. The swap screen opens with gold to USDT selected.
- Enter how much gold to sell, in grams or as an amount.
- Check the quote: the USDT you receive, the minimum received and the fees.
- Confirm with your fingerprint or PIN; the USDT arrives in your own wallet.
What price you get
The sell price follows the global gold price and the USDT rate, and there is a small difference between the buy and sell price. The Gold price view compares your buy price, your sell price and the global price.
Gold trades almost around the clock, but prices can move quickly around major economic news.
Costs when selling
Selling has a swap fee and an Ethereum network fee in ETH. Keep a little ETH in your wallet so you can sell when you want. On small amounts the network fee takes a larger share.
Selling at once or in steps
Some people sell all their gold at once; others sell part of it in steps, for example a little each week, so the price they get averages out over time. Neither choice is right for everyone, and the app does not give advice on when to sell.
What does matter is the network fee: selling in many very small steps means paying it many times. If you sell in steps, keep each sale large enough that the fee stays a small share of the amount.
After the sale
Sell USDT for local currency in P2P
- Keep the USDT, a dollar-pegged stablecoin.
- Send it to another wallet, choosing the right network.
- Sell it for local currency in P2P, where P2P is offered in your country.
Piggy bank goals and selling
A gold piggy bank is a savings goal, not a lock. You can sell at any time, and deleting a goal keeps your gold in your wallet.
If you are saving towards a date, selling part of your gold early simply moves you further from the target.
Keeping a record
Each sale appears in your wallet history with the date, the amount of gold, the USDT received and the transaction on the Ethereum network. Keep these records together with your purchase invoices.
They show what you paid and what you received, which helps you track your result and answer any tax or accounting question in your country.
