How to buy gold and build a gold piggy bank in Waletifi
To buy gold in Waletifi, open “Gold” from the home shortcuts or the Market tab, tap “Buy”, enter an amount or grams and confirm the quote. You can then create a savings goal, called a piggy bank. The gold section shows up only where it is enabled.
Step 1: the Gold screen
The “Gold” screen shows your gold balance, a live price per gram and a chart over 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or 1 year. Below it are four buttons: “Buy”, “Sell”, “Savings” and “Details”.
“Gold price” compares your buy price, your sell price and the global price. “Details” shows the token, network and contract: one full token is 1 troy ounce of 24K gold. Units and karat shown depend on your country.
Step 2: buy gold
Tap “Buy”, then choose “By amount” or “By grams” at the top. Under the amount the app shows how much gold it is, and it shows “Minimum buy: ... USDT”. A smaller amount is refused with “This amount is below the minimum gold purchase”.
Step 3: the gold quote
The “Gold quote” lists a number, “Weight”, “Price per gram”, “Total fee”, “Minimum received” and “Pay”. You pay with a token such as USDT, and if your balance or network fee is short the app says “Insufficient ... balance”.
When it looks right, tap “Buy with fingerprint”. You then see “Gold purchased” and an “Invoice”. Check price and fees on the quote before you confirm.
Step 4: create a piggy bank
From the Gold screen tap “Savings”, then “New savings goal”. Fill in:
- “First name”, such as “Wedding fund”.
- “Target (grams of ...K)”, with its current worth.
- “Target date”: 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or “Custom date” from tomorrow up to 10 years.
- “Monthly” or “Weekly”; the app says something like “About ... a month reaches it by ...”.
- Switch on “Reminder” and tap “Create savings goal”.
What reminders do and don’t do
“Reminder” sends a notification at 10:00. The app is explicit: “Reminders don't buy automatically; they only suggest.” Nothing is taken from your wallet and every purchase is your decision.
Android asks for notification permission. If you decline, the goal is saved but the reminder can’t reach you, and notifications never show amounts. Tap “Buy now” on the goal whenever you are ready.
Step 5: sell or cash out
If conversion is enabled, “Sell” on the Gold screen opens the swap screen with gold to USDT pre-selected. The steps are the same as any conversion: amount, minimum received, fees, sign. Then keep the USDT, send it, or where P2P is offered, sell it for local currency.
Deleting a goal says “Your gold stays in your wallet.” A piggy bank is a goal, not a lock.
Risks
Before you buy, remember:
- The price can fall as well as rise.
- The gold is a token whose issuer holds the metal and can freeze it.
- Each buy has fees, and on very small amounts the network fee weighs more.
- If you lose your recovery phrase nobody can recover your gold.
