About Alphabet, Google’s parent company
When people say Google stock, they mean Alphabet, the US holding company that owns Google. Its businesses include Google Search and ads, YouTube, Android, Chrome, Google Cloud and Waymo’s self-driving technology.
Alphabet has two listed share classes on Nasdaq: GOOGL (Class A, with voting rights) and GOOG (Class C, without). The token in Waletifi tracks GOOGL.
How to buy Google (Alphabet) stock with USDT
Once the Stocks section is available in your country:
- Open Stocks and choose Alphabet (GOOGL).
- Enter the USDT amount.
- Review the GOOGL tokens you get, the conversion fee and the Ethereum network fee in ETH.
- Confirm with your fingerprint or PIN; the transaction is signed on your phone.
- The tokens go to your own Ethereum address, and you can sell them for USDT in the same section.
What you actually own
You own a token, issued by a regulated issuer’s special-purpose company and backed 1:1 by GOOGL shares held with a US broker, plus a buffer. The token’s price tracks the GOOGL share.
Even though GOOGL is the voting share class, the token gives you no voting rights and no direct ownership of Alphabet: it is a claim on the issuer. Dividends are reinvested into the token’s price.
Costs
The review screen shows the conversion fee and the Ethereum network fee, paid in ETH, before you confirm. Keep some ETH in your wallet for that fee.
Risks
Alphabet’s share moves with the market and the company’s results, and the token adds these risks:
- The issuer can pause transfers, block addresses and remove tokens from an address.
- Direct redemption with the issuer needs identity verification.
- Limited liquidity on the network means large trades can move the price.
- Outside 9:30 to 16:00 New York time on weekdays, and on US holidays, the price can gap.
- Fake Google stock tokens and look-alike contracts circulate; only buy through the Stocks section in the app.
- The issuer may restrict addresses it associates with certain countries, including sanctioned countries such as Iran and Afghanistan; consider this like the other risks before buying.
Availability
The Stocks section is coming soon to Waletifi and will be enabled country by country.
