Telegram airdrops: what they are and how to withdraw them safely to a TON wallet
A Telegram airdrop is a free distribution of tokens that a project hands out to users of its Telegram mini app, usually as a reward for tapping, completing tasks or inviting friends. To receive it you need your own TON wallet address, which you paste into the project's withdraw page. This guide explains how these airdrops work, how to withdraw one to a TON wallet in Waletifi step by step, and how to avoid the scams that copy them.
What is an airdrop in crypto?
An airdrop is a free distribution of a new token to many wallet addresses, used by a project to spread ownership and attract users. Nobody pays for the token directly; you earn it through activity, or simply by holding something the project wants to reward.
Projects do it to build a community quickly, to put the token in many hands before it trades, and to reward early users. For you it is a chance to receive tokens, but the value of those tokens is never fixed and can be close to zero.
How do Telegram airdrops and tap-to-earn games work?
A Telegram airdrop usually runs inside a mini app: a small app that opens in Telegram. You tap, finish daily tasks, join channels or invite friends, and collect points inside the game.
Those points are not tokens yet. At some point the project converts them into a token on the TON blockchain and lets you withdraw it. Notcoin (NOT) is the best-known example of this model.
On TON, these tokens are jettons: tokens issued under TON's token standard, sent to your normal TON address. You do not need a separate address for each one.
What are the stages of a Telegram airdrop?
Most Telegram airdrops follow the same path, from collecting points to the moment the token can be traded. Knowing the stages helps you see where scams usually appear.
| Stage | What happens | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Farming / tasks | You tap, complete tasks and invite friends to collect points | Use only the project's official bot and channel; never pay to join |
| Snapshot | The project records everyone's points at a fixed moment | Points after the snapshot usually do not count |
| Claim / allocation | Points are converted into a token amount for you | Read the rules; any fee the mini app asks for goes to that project |
| Withdraw | You enter your TON address and the token is sent to it | Paste your own address and check the first and last characters |
| Listing / trading | The token can be traded or converted | The price can swing hard; nothing is guaranteed |
How to withdraw an airdrop to your TON wallet in Waletifi
To withdraw an airdrop to Waletifi, copy your TON address from the Receive screen and paste it into the project's withdraw page. The full steps:
How to receive crypto in Waletifi
- Install Waletifi from waletifi.com and tap “Create a new wallet”.
- Write the 24 words on paper. Never photograph them, never type them into a bot or a website.
- Tap “Receive” on the home screen and pick TON. Your TON address and QR code appear.
- Tap “Copy address”. The clipboard is cleared after 60 seconds, so paste it soon.
- In the mini app, open the withdraw page and paste the address into the wallet address field.
- Compare the first and last few characters of the pasted address with the one in Waletifi.
- If the project allows it, withdraw a small amount first and confirm it arrives.
- Confirm and wait. The transfer is final once the network confirms it.
Can I connect Waletifi to a Telegram mini app?
No. Waletifi does not support “connect wallet” (TON Connect) to Telegram mini apps. You withdraw by copying your address and pasting it, not by connecting.
If a mini app only lets you withdraw by connecting a wallet, you cannot use Waletifi for that step. In that case the project's withdraw page is not compatible with Waletifi, and you should not look for workarounds that ask for your 24 words.
Do I need a memo or comment to withdraw an airdrop?
No memo or comment is needed when you withdraw to your own wallet, because the address belongs to you alone. Leave the comment field empty or put anything you like.
A comment matters when you send tokens to an exchange deposit address. Exchanges often share one address among many users and tell them apart by the memo, so a missing memo can mean a lost deposit.
Why doesn't my airdrop token show in my wallet?
Waletifi shows only tokens on its verified list. On TON that list includes TON, USDT and Notcoin (NOT); a token that is not on the list is not shown in Waletifi, and spam tokens are hidden too.
A hidden token is not lost. It still sits at your address on the blockchain, and because your recovery phrase is a standard TON phrase you could see it by restoring the same phrase in another standard TON wallet.
Other common reasons:
- The withdrawal is still processing; projects sometimes send in batches over hours or days.
- The address was wrong or was for another network; check the transaction in a block explorer.
- The claim was never completed inside the mini app.
Airdrop scams: how do fake airdrops steal your crypto?
The most common airdrop scam is a fake bot or channel that asks you to “connect your wallet” or enter your recovery phrase, then empties the wallet. Popular airdrops are copied within hours.
- Anyone asking for your 24 words is a scammer. No real airdrop ever needs them.
- A “fee to unlock” or “activation deposit” paid to a stranger's address is a trap.
- Fake bots copy the official name and picture; open the bot only from the project's official channel.
- Look-alike tokens with the same name can be sent to you for free; check the token before you trade it.
- Never type your phrase into a website, a bot or a form, whatever it promises.
Should I sell or convert my airdrop tokens?
That decision is yours, and nobody can tell you what an airdrop token will be worth later. New tokens often swing hard in price right after trading begins, in both directions.
Moving or converting a token on TON needs a small network fee paid in TON, so keep a little TON in the wallet. Where conversion is enabled in your country, Waletifi's Swap screen shows the minimum you receive and the fees before you sign.
