US stock market hours in Dubai, Istanbul, Kabul, Islamabad and other cities
The US stock market opens at 9:30 and closes at 16:00 New York time. In Dubai, Baku and Yerevan that is 17:30 to 00:00 during US summer time and 18:30 to 01:00 in winter. Below is a table for the cities our readers use most, how to work out your own time, and what a closed market means for tokenized stock prices.
The market hours in New York time
The regular trading session on the NYSE and Nasdaq runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. New York time, Monday to Friday. There is no regular trading at weekends or on US market holidays. NVIDIA, Apple, Tesla, Google and SpaceX all trade on Nasdaq, so the same hours apply to all of them.
Why local times change twice a year
The US moves its clocks forward and back. Most of the cities below keep the same time all year, so the local opening time shifts by one hour. US daylight saving time (EDT, UTC−4) runs until Sunday 1 November 2026, and standard time (EST, UTC−5) from then until Sunday 14 March 2027.
US market hours by city
Times are for the regular session in 24-hour format. A closing time after 00:00 falls on the next calendar day:
| City | UTC offset | US summer time (EDT) | US winter time (EST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Istanbul, Moscow, Riyadh, Baghdad, Doha | UTC+3 | 16:30 to 23:00 | 17:30 to 00:00 |
| Tehran | UTC+3:30 | 17:00 to 23:30 | 18:00 to 00:30 |
| Dubai, Muscat, Baku, Yerevan | UTC+4 | 17:30 to 00:00 | 18:30 to 01:00 |
| Kabul | UTC+4:30 | 18:00 to 00:30 | 19:00 to 01:30 |
| Islamabad, Karachi | UTC+5 | 18:30 to 01:00 | 19:30 to 02:00 |
Work out your own time
If your city is not in the table, do it in three steps:
- Convert 9:30 New York time to UTC: 13:30 UTC in US summer time, 14:30 UTC in winter time.
- Add your city’s UTC offset to get the local opening time.
- Add 6 hours 30 minutes for the closing time (16:00 minus 9:30).
What this means for your day
In most of these cities the session falls in the evening and runs late. In Pakistan the winter session ends at 02:00, so Friday’s US session finishes in the early hours of Saturday, and Monday’s session starts on Monday evening, not Sunday. Pre-market trading (usually 4:00 to 9:30 New York time) and after-hours trading (usually 16:00 to 20:00) exist, but volume is thinner and exact hours depend on the broker.
What happens to tokenized stock prices when the market is closed?
A tokenized stock lives on a blockchain and can be moved at any hour, but its reference, the real share, only trades while the exchange is open. Outside those hours the token’s price can drift a little from the last exchange price, and when the market reopens it can jump if news arrived in the meantime. Liquidity is also thinner at these times, so a large trade moves the price more.
In Waletifi’s Stocks section, now live and depending on your country and app version, you buy these tokens with USDT and see the price and fees before you confirm. The issuer’s terms exclude some countries, including Iran and Afghanistan, and it may restrict addresses it links to them; weigh this like the other risks before buying.
