How to send crypto, step by step

Published:

To send crypto in Waletifi, tap “Send”, enter the recipient as an address, an @handle or a scanned QR, type the amount and read the “Review & confirm” screen carefully. The network fee is shown before you confirm, and the transaction is signed on your own phone.

Step 1: asset and network

Tap “Send” on the home screen or on the asset’s own page. If the asset lives on several networks, the app says “Choose the network to send USDT on. The recipient must receive on the same network.”

A network with no balance is shown but cannot be picked.

Step 2: choose the recipient

On “Send · Recipient” use the “Address or handle” field: paste an address, type an @handle, or tap the scan icon. “Recent” and “Address book” are listed below it.

The “Scan” screen says “Place the QR code inside the frame” and understands addresses, handles, shop invoices and gift links. If a handle receives on several networks the app says “Pick one”. If the address does not match the network, it says “This address isn't on ... Check the network.”

Step 3: amount

On “Send · Amount” type the amount. Your balance and the “Network fee” are shown right there. If you enter more than you have, you see “Insufficient balance” and “Review” stays unavailable until the amount is fixed.

Step 4: read the review screen

“Review & confirm” shows what you send, the recipient, address, network, memo, network fee and estimated time. Under that the app lists warnings at three levels: notice, caution and danger. Examples:

  • “This address resembles one in your history”: scammers send a tiny amount from a look-alike address so you copy it later. Compare the middle of the two addresses.
  • “Handle points to a different address”: the address behind the @handle changed. Confirm with the person first, then tick the confirmation.
  • “Memo missing”: an exchange address without a memo cannot credit your deposit.
  • “First send to this address”: send a small test amount first.
  • “Address is blocklisted”: the button becomes “Unable to send” and there is no way around it.

Step 5: confirm and sign

For danger-level warnings you must tick “I've read the warnings and am proceeding knowingly.” Then “Confirm with fingerprint” becomes available; if fingerprint is off or cancelled, the PIN pad appears. The screen reminds you that “Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed.”

Signing happens on your phone and your key goes nowhere. The server only relays the signed transaction after checking it.

Step 6: follow the status

“Sending…” has three steps: “Signed on your phone”, “Broadcast to network” and “Network confirmation”, usually under 10 seconds. You can tap “Go home · Notify me”.

At the end you see “Sent” with a “Receipt”. If the network fee was not covered, you see “Send failed”, and the app says “Nothing was deducted from your account.” Later you can find it under “History”, the clock icon on the home screen.

Common mistakes

A few habits prevent most errors:

  • Do not copy an address from your history or clipboard; get it from the recipient.
  • Agree the network with the recipient, especially for USDT.
  • Do not forget the memo when sending to an exchange.
  • For a large amount, send a small test first.

Questions and answers

What does sending cost in Waletifi?

Only the network fee, shown on “Send · Amount” and on “Review & confirm” before you confirm.

Can a transaction be reversed?

No. Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed, which is why the review screen has so many warnings.

What is an @handle and is it safe?

A handle is a short name instead of a long address. If the address behind it changes, the app stops you with a danger-level warning.

Am I charged if the send fails?

On the “Send failed” screen the app says nothing was deducted. Tap “Try again” or contact “Support”.
