How to buy USDT with local currency via P2P in Waletifi

Published:

To buy USDT with local currency in Waletifi you use the P2P section: you verify your identity, pick a seller’s ad, the seller locks USDT in escrow, you pay their bank account, and USDT reaches your wallet after they confirm. The section only appears in countries where it is enabled.

Step 1: identity verification (P2P only)

The wallet, sending and receiving need no verification, but P2P does. Open “Me”, then “Identity verification”. The screen says your name is not public: only your counterparty sees it after the crypto is locked.

There are three parts: “Details” (name, last name, father's name, national ID number, date of birth), “National ID” (front and back) and a “Selfie” with the ID and a handwritten note. Tap “Submit for review”; review takes up to 24 business hours.

Under “Bank accounts” add your own account with its card number, Sheba / IBAN and a screenshot from your bank app. Payments are only accepted from your verified account.

Step 2: choose an ad

Open the Market tab and go to “P2P” (or tap “Buy USDT” on the home screen). It asks “How much USDT do you want?”. Enter an amount, then tap “Find the best seller” or “Or choose a seller yourself”.

Each ad shows price, limit, method, active hours, completion rate and release time. Filter by method, such as card-to-card, and tap “Start trade”.

Step 3: request and escrow lock

Check “You pay”, the price, the fee and the “Payment deadline”, then tap “Send request”. The screen says “Waiting for seller to lock crypto” and “Don't pay yet”: bank details only appear after the lock.

If the seller never locks, the trade is cancelled and you have paid nothing. Once it is locked you see “... is locked in escrow” and “The seller can no longer take it back.”

Step 4: pay and record it

Now you see “Account holder name”, “Card”, “Sheba / IBAN” and “Exact amount”. Pay that exact amount from your own verified account in your bank app before the deadline; after it the trade expires.

Tap “Record payment”, enter the “Reference number”, optionally attach a receipt, and confirm with “Record on-chain with fingerprint”. Use “Chat” for questions; phone numbers and outside handles are blocked automatically.

Step 5: release

In “Seller confirmation” the seller checks their own bank account and taps “Release”. When you see “Trade complete” and “Released from escrow”, the USDT is in your wallet. A “PDF certificate” is available too.

If the seller says the money did not arrive

The seller can tap “Payment not received”, which moves the trade to “Dispute”. On the dispute screen tap “Submit evidence” and send the “Stamped bank statement (required)”.

The “Evidence deadline” counts business hours only; Fridays and holidays don't count, and a party who submits no evidence loses. An arbitrator reviews both sides and the decision needs two signatures.

Tips

These rules prevent most problems:

  • Do not pay before you see the escrow lock.
  • Pay only from your own account and the exact amount.
  • Keep the conversation in the app and never share your recovery phrase.
  • Start with a small trade.
  • Read our guide on buying USDT safely.

Questions and answers

Why does P2P need identity verification?

Because money moves between bank accounts and the account must be in your name. Creating a wallet, sending and receiving need no verification.

What is the P2P escrow?

A smart contract on the blockchain that locks the seller’s USDT before you pay. The seller cannot take it back during the trade.

What if the seller never locks the USDT?

The trade is cancelled and you have paid nothing. That is why bank details appear only after the lock.

Is P2P available everywhere?

No. It appears only in countries where it is enabled; otherwise the app says the feature is unavailable in your region.

Trade with escrow

If P2P is enabled in your country, start with a small trade and watch the escrow lock.
